Beginnings – September 2018

With every new beginning, there is hope and freshness for the thing God wants to do next. God is always moving. He is always growing us into deeper revelations of His foundational truths. And in the deeper places, His desire is to bring us more deeply into His love and relationship with Him.

I found with every promotion and every step up in the spiritual realm, the season is preceded by temptation, unbelief, warfare, and integrity tests. This pattern is so familiar to me now, I am encouraged when I see it because I know I am on the right path. His path. I know the place of unbelief in me will be filled with faith in Christ.

September 9, 2018 at sundown marks the beginning of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year holiday. It means “beginning of the year. This is always a harvest time for me. I’ve worked through the warfare, passed integrity tests, I’m back in faith. I’m ready for the new.

We are going from glory to glory, from harvest to harvest with seasons of pruning in between. Becoming a child of God is a decision that happens in a moment of time. Father then begins to lead us on to becoming a son, a daughter, a disciple, if you will. He deals with us as His beloved. Always training, cleaning up our messes, kissing our booboos. When we get older, we have consequences that are designed to strengthen us in our position within the family and eventually within the world. He does not kick us out when we don’t live up to our potential. We take the test again. His sense of Juris Prudence is epitomized by grace.

You may be in a season where you are reaping the benefits of sonship… the glorious inheritance, the bountiful relationships, the increase of influence. Or you may be in the test of unbelief, integrity, or temptation. You may be questioning yourself. Don’t lose heart. You’re in preparation.

It took me years… yes, years… to realize God was preparing me for the next level. To combat the unbelief in the atmosphere of the next spiritual level. The unbelief of the lost and hurting souls God wants to save and bring into this glorious adventure we call Christianity. He wants to use us in this wild Kingdom adventure. Because He is a loving Father, He will not promote you before your time. And He will prepare you for promotion.

Defeating Self Doubt

What saved me from a life of self doubt? Becoming a kingdom daughter. Becoming a disciple. Hanging on to God. Declaring He is good and asking Him for understanding. Understanding is such a powerful force and that is why the devil loves to get us distracted into meaningless arguments and fruitless discussions. Yes, he loves fake news. But I digress. ☺

And at the foundation of all this process? His Word! When capitalized, I am referring to The Holy Bible, the book taken in context. When my relationship with God is shaky on my end (it’s never shaky on His end), I go to His Word. In 25 plus years of being a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, His Word has never failed me. It brought me through the trauma of divorce (that’s how I met the Lord!). The Word of God helped me get and keep a job (before Jesus, the longest I ever held a job was six to 22 months!). His Word kept me from giving up while processing childhood trauma. His Word encouraged me when God led me to start my own business in the height (or rather depth!) of the last recession. Suffice it to say I am hooked on His Word.

The Word of God helped me relate properly to authority without signing over my competence and relationship with God. The Word helped me into every promotion, doubling my income time after time. The Word of God reproved me on issues of sin. I knew it was wrong to commit sexual immorality, but I needed an Authority as well as the power to say no to such sin. When I became a believer, I pledged my love, allegiance, and obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ. Why? Because I had a witness in my heart that He was the only One who could deliver me from a life of sin, unbelief, and self righteousness, and self hatred.

One of the reasons I am a believer in Jesus Christ is His history can be traced back to the beginning of time (as we know it). There is spiritual and historical documentation of His power. For today, I simply must share a powerful passage from The Holy Bible.

1God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
Hebrews 1:1-4 NKJV (emphasis mine)

What does God have in store for you in Fall of 2018 and into 2019? I promise you if you will search His Word, He will show you. And no matter where you are in the cycle (testing, overcoming temptation, replacing unbelief with faith, pruning, harvest, increase) the Word of God is a light that will show you the way! I want to live by the word of His power! Will you join me in stepping into the season God has for us? As we step into this Fall and the coming year, let us step with power and authority. The word of His power. No matter what season you are in, His power knows no season. He is the great I am and He has chosen to give you His power and authority. Let us learn of Him and walk in His power.
